Strategic Planning Updates

February 2025

Strategic Plan Engagement

  • 12 Executive Listening Tours have been completed. These discussions with System leadership shared great hope for the future of the University and the importance of magnifying the distinct attributes of our five strong campuses.
  • The Vision 2035 Survey was launched and completed with almost 7,800 responses. Survey questions asked the University community for ideas and values that would position the University competitively in the years ahead.
  • Town Halls: Strategic planning town halls have begun. Campus-wide town halls have started on the Crookston, Morris, and Twin Cities campuses. Unit-level town halls are also being scheduled and have begun. Town halls will continue through the end of March.

Steering Committee

The Maroon, Gold and Bold Steering Committee continues its work to develop a bold vision and strategic plan for the University of Minnesota System. At their meeting on February 20, 2025, Committee members discussed:

  • Current and concluded engagement opportunities with the University community to gather feedback about their vision for a bold path forward. Final analysis and reports regarding these sessions will be provided to the Committee in mid-March.
  • Ways the University can make bold moves in higher education to push boundaries and redefine what’s possible for our System.
  • Continuing competitive analysis of other colleges and universities for opportunities the University can consider in the next 10 years.
  • Developing an approach to better articulate how the University will measure or quantify these BOLD investments.
