Road construction alert
Please plan extra time to get to the University of Minnesota as you may experience heavier traffic along your route due to planned road construction. Ongoing construction will impact traffic flow on 4th Street between Oak Street and I-35W and University Avenue between I-35W and 13th Avenue. Please expect delays and allocate more time if traveling on 4th Street or University Ave. Learn more here to see if your route will be impacted due to lane reduction.
Parking and transportation
Parking available for a nominal fee.
Recommended parking ramps are the Washington Avenue Ramp (501 Washington Ave SE) and the East River Road Ramp (385 East River Parkway). After parking, please follow the signage to make your way to Northrop. For those needing transportation assistance, golf cart shuttles will be available.
Getting a ride?
Please direct your driver to the corner of Pillsbury Street SE and Church Street SE (closest building is the Nolte Center - 315 Pillsbury Dr SE). This is the designated loading and unloading zone.
Northrop entrance
Entering Northrop through security checkpoint
For guests who are attending the Inauguration Ceremony, in-person, please enter Northrop via the east entrance off of Church Street. Upon arrival, all guests must have their ticket(s) (digital or self-printed) in hand and be screened by security before entering.
Bags and umbrellas
To provide a safer environment and significantly expedite entry, the size of bags that may be brought into Northrop will be limited.
Only clear totes that do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”, one-gallon resealable plastic bags, and small clutch purses that do not exceed 4.5” x 6.5” are allowed. Bags are subject to search, in addition to other security measures. Umbrellas are not allowed inside Northrop. For more information, please see the Northrop Bag Policy.
Tickets
Northrop will provide your ticket(s) via email to the main registrant on Monday, September 16 (sent by umntix@umn.edu) as a PDF attachment. Please have your tickets ready at the security entrance - either self-printed tickets or digital tickets on your phone are acceptable. The main registrant will receive the tickets for their whole group unless prior arrangements were made - please do your best to enter as a group. A ticket concierge will be available at the entrance to assist if you have any questions.
