Rooted in our values: Supporting our community
The University of Minnesota is built on the core values of dignity, inclusion and meaningful connection. When those values are threatened anywhere in our community, we all feel it.
The tragedy in Minneapolis this week has left many in our community feeling sad, afraid and angry. In times like these, we lean into our commitment to an environment that supports the safety and well-being of every person at the University.
This commitment is not expressed in words alone — it is reflected in the actions we take and the resources we share including Rapid Response: Federal Immigration Policies Support and Resources.
Belonging cannot flourish without a strong sense of well-being. If you are struggling, please take advantage of the many mental health resources the University offers including those found on the Mental Health & Wellbeing tab on myu.umn.edu.
With the closure of public schools today and tomorrow, Work. With Flexibility, Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe time and other leaves are available to faculty and staff who need extra flexibility to care for themselves or their families. Employees and supervisors should work together to make arrangements to use those resources as appropriate.
